What to Wear for Your Florida Photoshoot 🌴📸
Tips from your Florida Photographer
One of the most common questions I get as a Florida photographer is:
“What should I wear for my photoshoot?”
Florida is beautiful, bright, and full of color—but it also comes with heat, humidity, sun, and sandy locations. What you wear can make a huge difference in how your photos turn out, so I’m sharing my go-to tips to help you look and feel your best.
1. Stick to Light, Neutral Colors
Florida light is strong and warm, which means soft colors photograph beautifully. Think:
Whites, creams, tans
Sage green, rust, deep navy
These shades reflect light nicely and keep your photos looking timeless instead of overly busy.
👉 Try to avoid: neon colors, super bright reds, or anything with heavy logos—they can pull attention away from you.
2. Dress for the Heat (Comfort = Confidence)
Florida gets hot… fast 😅
Choose breathable fabrics like:
Cotton
Linen
Flowy dresses or relaxed button-ups
If you’re sweating or uncomfortable, it will show—so wear something that lets you move and breathe.
3. Coordinate, Don’t Match
If you’re doing a couples or family shoot, aim for coordinated colors, not identical outfits.
Pick 2–4 colors and mix them throughout
Vary textures (denim, linen, knits)
Keep patterns minimal
This keeps the photos cohesive without looking stiff or “too planned.”
4. Location Matters
Your outfit should work with the setting:
Beach shoots: barefoot or neutral sandals, flowy dresses, rolled-up pants
Downtown or urban: structured pieces, layers, neutral shoes
Nature/parks: earthy tones and soft textures
If you’re unsure, I’m always happy to help you choose based on your location!
5. Simple Accessories Go a Long Way
Accessories can elevate your look—but keep them subtle:
Delicate jewelry
Neutral hats
Soft layers like cardigans or light jackets
Avoid chunky or noisy pieces that distract or cast shadows.
6. Be You 🤍
The best photos come from feeling confident. If something feels too tight, too trendy, or not you—skip it. Your photos should reflect your personality, not just a Pinterest board.
✨ Final Tip:
When in doubt, lay your outfit out the night before, snap a quick mirror photo, and see how it feels. And remember—I’m always here to help guide you before your session!
